The Nigerian government has started paying ex-militants in the Niger Delta region, the BBC is reporting.
The organization cited a Bloomberg News report quoting the amnesty program’s spokesman, Piriye Kirayamo, as saying “Payments of stipends to the ex-militants resumed this Monday. The payments are done directly from the CBN [Central Bank of Nigeria] to their bank accounts.”
He added that “The payment also includes tuition for those studying abroad.”
