Lagos To Probe Nurses Filming Rico Swavey’s Unconscius Body

The Lagos State government has opened an investigation into the unprofessional conduct of Doren Hospital Ajah and its staff, following the Rico Swavey video trending on Twitter.

In the trending video, nurses and medical staff believed to be of Doren Hospital Ajah Lagos were seen recording a video of Big Brother Naija season 3 housemate, Rico Swavey (real name, Patrick Fakoya) on oxygen.

In the video, nurses and medical staff of the hospital were heard laughing out loud and recording a video of an accident victim (Rico) instead of administering medical care to him while in a coma.

The video which is currently trending on Twitter has garnered widespread condemnation from members of the public and netizens who also took turns sharing their ugly experiences at various other hospitals including Lagos University Teaching Hospital – LUTH and other hospitals across the country.

It was observed that the nurses were attempting to carry Rico on a bed in his unconscious state when one of them brought out a phone and began recording him.

Another nurse was heard cautioning her colleague against the act.

“You people should stop making the video; somebody is dying, you people are making video,” the nurse said.

Reacting to the video, Dr Dípò Awójídé, FHEA @OgbeniDipo wrote: When there’s an accident the first thing to do is not recording the victims for whatsoever purpose. Rescue and try to save lives. You also clearly must not record a patient in hospital while they are unconscious. I hope those Nurses are punished and the hospital sued.

Big Miss Mayaki @The_Mayaki wrote: “That video is so triggering. They look like clueless luth students on practical class. My goodness! Who tf deemed it fit to make videos in such critical condition!? (I hope it wasn’t one of the ‘nurses’) That man was bleeding fgs!! Where is your compassion?? RIP Rico”

Ibukun Aluko @IbkSports wrote: General Hospital, LUTH AND LASUTH. “The Doctors and Nurses in these Hospitals aren’t Humans, you can’t tell me anything else.

May God continue to grant us good health and not have to experience these hospitals”.

Also, in its reaction to the Rico Swavey video, the Lagos State government in a statement by the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said the state government had commenced investigation.

He said, “That hospital is not a government hospital; we have started an investigation into the unprofessional conducts of those who appeared in that video.”

It was earlier reported that the reality TV star got involved in an accident on Tuesday.

A fellow ex-housemate in Big Brother Naija Season 3, Alex Asogwa, who shared the news on her Twitter page on Tuesday, said doctors were trying to resuscitate him.

Rico Swavey, however, succumbed to death following the degree of injuries he sustained from the auto accident on Thursday morning.
