As it stands now, the Osun State Council of Traditional Rulers has suspended the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, for six months.
Oba Akanbi, the youthful Oluwo was found guilty of assault by the committee set up by the council of Obas following his encounter with another Oba within Iwoland.
Following the suspension, rumours are rife that the state government may remove the erring Oba. Though, we have it on good source that the Oba has been reaching out to highly placed individuals in the state and beyond, but because he is not keeping quiet and showing remorse for the shameful act, we heard, that will be the reason for his ouster.
According to a source, the governor of Osun state, Adefboyega Oyetola who has the prerogative of signing his ouster, at first, was extremely reluctant in doing so because of many people’s influence especially the former governor of the state , Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who has been pleading on Oluwo’s behalf. But, as it stands, the governor will be left with no option since many other top personalities are singing the song that his case should be used to serve as deterrent to other Oba who may likely go that route.
Will this come to reality? the time is ticking
