The list of rich people D’banj is presently indebted to in his get rich like scam is endless. Mr. Walter Wagbatsoma is currently on his tail to retrieve 200 thousand British pounds soft loan he took from him in the UK. Wagbatsoma is founder and executive Vice Chairman of Ontario Oil. Prince D. Okonkwo chairman of the board of directors of Tetrazzini group of companies, almost nearly lost 200,000 dollars to D’banj in the name of ‘investing in entertainment’ in Nigeria. When Okonkwo turned on the heat, D’banj ran to his next target, Dapo Abiodun, boss of Heyden Oil and Gas who bought his debt and he’s still indebted to him to the tune of 200,000 dollars till date.
The last Koko Concert was another avenue for D’banj to go on a borrowing cum scam spree.
D’banj reportedly made close to N87 million naira from tickets sales only and confirmed reports also allege that he collected a whooping sum of $500,000(Dollars) from Mr. Henry Ojogho, an oil and gas magnate and boss of Broron Oil, as sponsorship of the Koko concert, this is aside the funds he got from Gtbank and other title sponsors of the show. Ojogho took him to court and he has been able to payback 300,000 dollars with a balance of 200,000 dollars remaining.
D’banj after the Koko Concert took off to South Africa with these funds and rented a huge mansion, where he constantly threw big parties and gigs, with some girls reportedly talking about his generosity after dashing them $8,000 each for their ‘escort’ services.
The news making the round is that the once very popular musician is broke. A close source to him revealed: “Believe it or not, D’banj is very broke and ready to scam more people to fund his luxurious lifestyle. He’s missed out on all major shows this year because no one is willing to pay him N8million naira per show (yes! That’s how much he charges to perform), it is even worse that he has no current hit song that has made it to the top of the Nigerian chart in the last one year, and he practically messes up all the major collaboration he’s done recently ranging from “Oritsefemi’s Double Wahala to Iyanya’s Kukere and Olamide’s First Of All. He has been on a money borrowing spree recently, borrowing against the balance of his endorsement money from Globacom. Unfortunately, Heyden Oil Pulled out after securing the N25, 000, 000 initially invested as soon as Globacom paid a percentage of his endorsement fee.
The D’banj’s near tragedy story is made worse because with all the monies he made (including the ones he borrowed from rich people willing to invest in the sector), he has no house of his own. “His current house on 8, Osaro Isopkai Street, Lekki-Lagos, is a rented apartment! As a matter of fact his current rent would expire this month (November). He has also been kicked out of his American rented home because he couldn’t pay his monthly rent. He is currently courting a new generation bank after Gtbank had its fingers burnt in their deal with him. I am laughing at the bank because what happened to Gtbank will sure happen to them,” the source said.
Investigation revealed that his deal with American music star Kanye West has finally hit the rocks. “If you are among those who have asked questions like, why wasn’t D’banj invited for Kanye West’s wedding? Why hasn’t he said or done anything with Kanye West or G.O.O.D music lately? Why is there no video for Scape Goat (Remix)? The real story is this, D’banj was never really signed to Kanye West directly, D’banj is signed on to Def Jam, a sneaky move he made behind Kanye West. The moment West found out about it, they fell apart irreconcilably.”
One is tempted to ask what he spends all these monies on. “Women and Indian hemp! He buys the imported high grade (Indian hemp) at N300, 000 per Parcel. Consumes about two Parcels a week @ N700, 000. He also buys expensive shoes, shirts, suits, wrist watches and 6, 000 pounds jackets. He ‘imports’ foreign women and pays thousands of dollars for the services of high class American whores who call themselves ‘escorts’.
