Yemi Fawaz, the became the first recognised super model in Nigeria who glamorised professional modeling in Nigeria is dead.
Yemi Fawaz died yesterday February 20th at New York Lenox Hill Hospital. She was 64 years old. Ms Fawaz had been battling colon cancer for a while. She also had a hole in her heart and her kidney had began to fail her.
Yemi Fawaz started her modeling career and became a super model in the late 70s. She also established a modeling school and did a lot for the fashion industry in Nigeria. She packed up her bags and left Nigeria in 1997 and didn’t return until 2016. She is survived by her 33 year old daughter Oluwatobi Fawaz who announced her death.
She wrote this on her Timeline:

‘It is with great sadness that I am announcing the passing of my Mother Deaconess Yemi Fawaz. We thank God for her well lived life and for her strong faith in the Lord Almighty. Her home going arrangements will be announced soon. I ask that you keep our family in your prayers and I am grateful that she was able to touch you all in so many ways.
