We are pursuing peaceful resolution of all boundary disputes – Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has said that his administration is committed to peaceful resolution of all boundary issues facing the state.

Governor Otti stated this at Ugwueke, Bende LGA of the state during the Ibo Uzo Festival of Chinyereugo Age Grade.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, stated that the boundary issues facing the state were connected to the strategic location of Abia, which makes it share boundary with seven states in the country.

Four of the states, according to Governor Otti, are in the South-East and three in the South-South part of the country.

He assured that all boundary matters affecting the state would be tabled at the fourth-coming boundary meeting being organized by the National Boundary Commission between 12th and 13th of August and expressed the confidence that the meeting would help in activating the delineation of Abia’s boundaries with other states.

“We are very confident that this all-important meeting will directly activate the delineation of our boundaries with neighboring states, including our own Ugwueke and Akaeze in Ebonyi State,” he said.

He described the Ibo Uzo festival as a rich cultural heritage of the Isieke people which will not only bolster the economy and development of the area, but will go a long way in attracting more tourists both local and international to participate in the festival.

While appreciating Johnson Chukwu for building a civic centre for his people, Governor Otti said that will afford the people of Isieke the opportunity to enhance human capital development, share resources and work towards a common good of building a stronger and more productive community.

In his speech, former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, charged people in positions of authority to see leadership as a divine call to serve.
