Trump assassination attempt: Things to know about shooter Thomas Crooks

The United States Secret Service and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, FBI, identified Thomas Mathew Crooks as the shooter in the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.

Crooks attempted to assassinate Trump during the latter’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on Saturday.

He was, however, killed by men of the secret service present at the venue.

Below are a few things to know about him:

– Crooks was 20 years old.

– He was a resident of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania.

-He shot at Trump from about 35 miles south of Butler.

-Local media said Crooks graduated from Bethel Park High School in 2022.

-He was registered to vote as a Republican, according to a listing in Pennsylvania’s voter database that matched his name, age, and a Bethel Park address that law enforcement searched on Saturday night.

-This year’s presidential election would have been the first he was old enough to vote in.

-Federal Election Commission records show that a donor listed as Thomas Crooks with the same address gave $15 to a Democratic-aligned political action committee called the Progressive Turnout Project in January 2021.

-Crooks was a kitchen worker.

-He wore a T-shirt from Demolition Ranch, a YouTube channel known for its guns and demolition content.
