Super Eagles: Labbadia set to name foreign assistants

Newly-appointed Super Eagles head coach Bruno Labbadia is set to name his foreign assistants.

DAILY POST reports that Labbadia’s appointment was announced on Tuesday.

The German is expected to bring in two foreign assistants, while the others will be local coaches appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Labbadia, according to reports is expected to pick his foreign assistants from the trio of Erdinç Sözer, Olaf Janßen and Bernhard Trares.

Sözer is considered the 58-year-old’s most reliable assistant and is likely to be his first choice.

The pair have worked together at several clubs including Bayer Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin.

He is currently without job after leaving Turkish side Samsunspor on June 30, 2024.

Former centre-back Trares, started working with Labbadia in 2015 at Hamburg and continued their partnership at VfB Stuttgart. He is currently without a club.

Janßen, who is currently the manager of Viktoria Köln may not be available at the moment due to his commitment at the club.
