Serie A: Chukwueze opens up on struggles at AC Milan

Samuel Chukwueze has revealed the reason why he struggled during his first season at AC Milan.

The Nigeria international moved to the San Siro from LaLiga side, Villarreal last summer.

Chukwueze however struggled to feature regularly for the Rossoneri with former manager, Stefano Pioli preferring Rafael Leao and Christian Pulisic ahead of him.

The 25-year-old scored only once in 26 league appearances for AC Milan.

The winger confessed arriving late for pre-season made things difficult for him.

“I arrived late, at the end of July. It was a bit difficult to convince him (Pioli); the player in my position was scoring goals,” Chukwueze was quoted by Football Italia.

“I had a good relationship with Pioli; he’s a fantastic guy and a great coach.”
