Roads under construction will be completed after rainy season – Ogun Govt

The Ogun State Government has assured residents of Kemta Olokuta-Wole Soyinka Rail Station, Ewang Exit-Iyana Tekobo, Oke-Ijeun-Nawarudeen Road, Lafenwa-Rounda and other ongoing road networks in the state of their speedy completion immediately the rainy season ends.

Special Adviser and General Manager of Ogun State Public Works Agency, Babatunde Adesina, gave the assurance while featuring on a radio programme in Abeokuta on Wednesday.

Adesina, while imploring residents to be patient with the government, noted that all logistics and preliminary works of those roads had been perfected.

He noted that the recently flagged-off reconstruction of the Lagos-Abeokuta express road was at the insistence of Governor Abiodun, who was sensitive to the plight of people plying the road.

Adesina said: “Prince Dapo Abiodun is aware of the agonies commuters faced on the roads and since inception, he has been able to touch and complete some roads across the state, including Elite-Lantoro, Immigration-Prof. Wole Soyinka, Fajool-Alogi-Gbonogun, Ijebu-Epe, Awujale, Folagbade, Joju, Answarudeen-Oju Ore, Osi-Ota-Raypower, Igan Okoto-Joga-Orile Phase One, Ewusi and Molusi College roads, among others.

“We are imploring our people to be a little bit patient with the government, as other areas will soon be touched. We all know road construction does not begin with asphalt laying alone; there are planning stages, fieldwork, sub-structure stages, cover, bridges and so on, and as a responsive and responsible government, we have been able to apply palliatives to some of the roads,” he said.

Meanwhile, a resident from Olokuta community in Abeokuta, Aralamo Bashiru, appreciated the government for the palliative applied to the Kemta-Olokuta Road, appealing for speedy rehabilitation of the road. Another resident, Mrs Ibikun, from Ayetoro, called on the state government to fix Alamala-Ayetoro Road.
