Don’t hide files or frustrate students – MOUAU Vice Chancellor warns Registry staff

The Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Professor Maduebibisi Iwe has tasked the staff of the Registry Department of the University on the need to ensure efficient service delivery.

The Vice-Chancellor made the call while declaring open the maiden edition of Registry Week, organized by the University in Umudike.

He used the occasion to warn the staff of the department against indulging in acts that may infringe on smooth service delivery, saying that they must live up to standard.

He cautioned the staff against hiding important files, even as he warned them against making life hard for students but challenged the staff to shun truancy and utilize the opportunities provided by the seminar.

Nigerian Universities have been challenged to develop modern and efficient registry system departments, for services deliveries and better management of resources.

He challenged the registry staff to leave above board by shunning corruption and securing the integrity of all important documents of the Universities.

In his address, the keynote Speaker, Titus Igwe challenged the registry staff to embrace efficient means of managing available resources to navigate the current economic realities.

Igwe said that Nigerian Universities must move away from the outdated systems of record keeping and therefore strive to serve the students better.

Speaking at the event, Abia State Governor, Alex Otti who was represented by his Special Adviser on Education, Kenechukwu Nwosu, promised that his administration would provide more support for Michael Okpara University and the education industry at large.
